As a tourist, you should know some things about smoking in Romania. Smoking in public places is partly banned.
Premises with an area less than 100 square meters are exempt from the obligation to arrange special rooms for smokers. However they must publicly notify that the bar or restaurant is for smokers.
Otherwise, premises larger than 100 square meters, are required by law, as of 1st of January, to have separate rooms, equipped with ventilation for smoke removal. By law, owners who do not meet the new requirements risk fines between 2,500 and 5,000 lei.
